About Me
I’m Freya Webber, a freelance broadcast journalist and multimedia storyteller with a First in Journalism from Leeds Trinity University. Originally from West Croydon in South London and now based in Leeds, I bring a perspective shaped by both the North and South.
My experience spans broadcast journalism, writing, video production, digital content and live event coverage. I’m particularly passionate about content creation, interviewing and research, with a strong interest in finding the people and stories behind the headlines. I enjoy turning research and conversations into engaging, accessible content that connects with audiences.
During my time at university and through industry and freelance experience, I’ve contributed to Yorkshire Voice and Yorkshire Bylines, produced multimedia coverage for the Yorkshire Evening Post, and gained experience in live television production at ITV Studios working on Good Morning Britain. These opportunities have developed my communication, teamwork, adaptability and ability to work effectively in fast-paced media environments.
Through FreyasWeb, I’m building an independent creative platform that brings together journalism, digital storytelling and content creation. It gives me a space to experiment with different formats, develop my voice as a journalist and explore stories from perspectives that may not always receive the attention they deserve.
As a neurodivergent journalist, I value authentic, human-centred storytelling and creating space for voices and experiences that can sometimes be overlooked. I believe good journalism starts with listening, asking the right questions and taking the time to understand a story properly.
I’m now looking to take the next step into the industry and establish myself as a journalist, building on the experience I’ve gained through university, freelance work and industry opportunities. I’m particularly interested in broadcast, digital journalism, content creation, current affairs, human-interest and documentary-style storytelling, while continuing to develop my skills and learn from experienced journalists and production teams.
